When the clock strikes twelve, the game begins. The story I shall tell is about three foolish teenagers who discovered the game and thought it was a fun thing to play. Among them was a short, blonde girl who was called Beatrix, a tall yet slim man she referred to as David, and a large, muscular man named Clyde. It was Beatrix who found the game. She read it on a paranormal game site on the internet. The three friends thought it would be fun; it's not like it will work anyways. It was that statement that was wrong.

Thus, the three started the preparations. They wrote down their names on a piece of paper. Each took a needle, pricked their finger and placed a fat drop of blood next to their names. Beatrix dug out 3 candles and 3 lighters from the cupboard. The green glow of the clock read 11:58. The game was soon going to start. David placed the paper in front of the door while Clyde set the candles a flame. The clock moved to 11:59. Beatrix took a deep breath and knocked on the door with the time of a clock ticking. At the 22nd knock, the clocked stroked midnight. She opened the door before her, closed it, and opened it again.

"I welcome you…" Beatrix said, gasping the air. A cold wind flew past her; closing the door, blowing out the candles and making the power go out. The three were alone in the country side darkness of midnight. They quickly relight the candles and the game had begun. It was a large house I must say… if they kept moving like they were supposed to, I may not have found them. But that wasn't the case.

At some point, all players realize what they have done and try to quit. The first among them to realize this was David. A shy, quiet boy he was… smart as well. Yet he wasn't smart enough to beat me in the game. Around 1:11, I found him hiding in a closet. His candle blew out. I waited 10 seconds to see if he was going to save himself, but he did nothing. I guess the boy didn't value his sanity. From that moment, he had lost the game. Time to move onto the next player.

Beatrix and Clyde were chit-chatting in the kitchen when Clyde got very cold ever so suddenly. The shivers up his spine made him dash forward up the stairs. Beatrix dared not to follow. Although, I did. Upstairs, he was in Beatrix's room. He paced the window front, trying to figure out what was going on. It was then he caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of his eye. The candle in his hand blew out. Clyde panicked and reached to his pocket for the lighter. Seconds pasted as I counted to 10. He searched and searched his pockets but with no avail. His time was up… he lost the game was well. He let out a loud cry of agony as he fell to the ground. Only one person remained… Beatrix.

She had moved into the living room before Clyde screamed. His cry must have paralyzed her. When I found her, she was in a cupboard; trying to find something to save her. On the site she found the game on, it said something about a circle to prevent my tortures. Only one problem: she couldn't remember what it was. She remembered it started with an 'S'. Beatrix debated for a while, but closed the cupboard with nothing. It was then she got cold. She started to breath heavy. There was a look of terror in her eyes. Oh, how I long to see that look of terror! Beatrix looked into the mirror on the cupboard's door.  Her eyes grew large, and just before the candle went out at 2:33, she saw a dark silhouette of a man with a hat covering his face. From that moment she had lost the game. Until 3:33, she would be tortured. But not the physical torture you're thinking of. Oh no, my torture is on a much greater level. You see, I induce fear. When a player loses, they are tortured by their greatest fears.

I can still remember the look on Beatrix's face when she lost; a face I've seen on many people. It was foolish of them to think they could win "The Midnight Man". I am the only winner of this game. For I am, the Midnight Man.
A short story i wrote about the paranormal game "The Midnight Man"
How to play:
"The Midnight Game" is an old pagan ritual used mainly as punishment for those who have broken the laws of a pagan religion. While it is mainly used as a scare tactic to not disobey the gods, there is still a very real chance of death to those who play the Midnight Game. There's an even higher chance of permanent mental scarring. It is highly recommended that you DO NOT play the Midnight Game. However, for those few thrill seekers searching for a rush or those delving into obscure occult rituals, these are the simple instructions on how to play. Do so at your own risk.
PREREQUISITES: It must be exactly 12:00AM when you begin performing the ritual, otherwise it will not work. The materials required include a candle, a wooden door, at least one drop of your own blood, a piece of paper, matches or a lighter, and salt. If you are playing with multiple people, they will all need their own of the aforementioned materials and will have to perform the steps below separately.
•Write your full name (first, middle, and last) on a piece of paper and put at least one drop of blood on the same paper. Allow it to soak in.
•Turn off all the lights in the house. Go to your door and place the paper with your name in front of it. Take the candle and light it. Afterward, place the candle on top of the paper with your name.
•Knock on your own door 22 times (the hour MUST be 12:00AM upon the final knock), then open the door, blow out the candle, and close the door. You have just allowed the "Midnight Man" into your home.
•Immediately relight your candle.
This is where the game begins. You must now lurk around your completely dark house with the lit candle in hand. Your goal is to avoid the Midnight Man at all costs until exactly 3:33AM. Should your candle ever go out, it is because the Midnight Man is near you. You must relight your candle within the next ten seconds. If you are unsuccessful in relighting the candle, you must immediately surround yourself with a circle of salt.
If you are unsuccessful in both of these, the Midnight Man will induce a hallucination of your greatest fear until 3:33AM. If you are successful in relighting the candle, you may proceed. If you are successful in creating the circle of salt, you must remain within the circle until 3:33AM.
You must continue until 3:33AM without being attacked by the Midnight Man or being trapped within the circle of salt to win the Midnight Game. The Midnight Man will leave at 3:33AM and you will be safe to proceed with your morning. Staying in one spot the entire game will only result in the Midnight Man finding you. It is highly advised you continue moving throughout the game.
•DO NOT turn on any lights during the Midnight Game.
•DO NOT use a flashlight during the Midnight Game.
•DO NOT go to sleep during the Midnight Game.
•DO NOT use another person's blood on your name.
•DO NOT use a lighter to substitute for a candle. It will not work.
•DEFINITELY DO NOT attempt to provoke the Midnight Man in ANY WAY.

Haha this is nice
It made me smile a lot~
Heh, i believe in the paranormal, and that is why i don't play this type of games, because i believe in it, and in case i don't, i don't deny the possibility of its existence. ''Respect paranormal beings, you don't want to mess up with them'' i say to the girls at school who want to play paranormal games just as a bravery test
