Maybe One Day...

Dreams have always been special to me.
Probably not for reasons you're thinking of.
Dreams are how I found him.
It was a summer quite some time ago.
I had fallen asleep like it was a normal night.
That began my dream.

It started out with me and a boy.
I didn't know who he was.
He didn't look familiar, but yet I felt as if I knew him.
He looked like a mix of my sister and I.
The dream continued for what seem like a lifetime.
I've never had a dream that brought me that much joy.

But soon I woke up, crying.
It wasn't long before I realized my mom was there.
She asked me what was wrong.
I described my dream to her.
She looked different after I told her.
She said it was nothing important… but she was lying.

More and more my mysterious curiosity grew.
Although I wanted to ask, I was afraid.
My heart burned to know the truth.
How does someone ask that?
Whenever I tried to, I choked.
My desire to know began to brew.

But one day, everything started to turn.
I overheard a conversation between mom and sis.
Deep into the conversation is when I learned.
I couldn't believe it.
The thought of me mishearing floated acrossed my mind.
But that wasn't it. The clockwork tower began to churn.

It hit me like a fast moving car.
I realized who that boy was in my dream.
Why did no one tell me…?
Well, at least I know the truth.
I know what was and what is.
I don't have to keep my feelings in a jar.

I found out on my own whim.
I found out on because I was destined to find out.
Now I know about my long, lost brother.
